Not only does Sweat Mode EP bring distorted R&B vocals in a world of Miami heat straight from the 80s, its also free to download. Ghost Mutt is a real talent and will be flying the flag this year for Electronica in the UK we are sure of it. More of him on his Facebook and Soundcloud.

Culprate has been a very busy bass engulfed bee over the pass few months. Having released his ‘5 Star EP‘ on Inspected records Xmas Day and also dopped his experimental ‘Colours’ album in October, he has no intentions of slowing down.

Now I’m not one to get excited by very young producers. They are usually very arrogant, miss guided, demanding and very unwilling to take constructive criticism (watch out for my post on how to send tracks in the right way lol).
However, Marco Del Horno introduced us to a producer called Skanky at least six months or so ago, and we’re beyond hype that he did. Not only is Louis Johnson just 17, he is also from my home town of North London which gets him extra credits in my book. It’s pretty unheard of for such a young, up and coming producer, to have already established his own sound and persona. Sensual vibes, R&B chopping and skipping bass are firmly established on his producer CV.
You may of heard his track on Dubfluence 5 ‘Blind Spot‘, which is one of our personal favourites from last year. For us at Ego Thieves, we know a producer has a big future ahead of him when its hard to do say that ‘he sounds like’ this or that producer. If you try to do this with Skanky, it usually draws a blank or a vast mash up: A twinge of Jamie XX, a snippet of James Blake and maybe a shake of Roska and Diplo is all we could come up with.

UK imprint Push & Run are here to kick off their 2012 release schedule with the official debut of Welsh enigma ‘Ifan Dafydd’. The rumours that surround him would make even Bruce Wayne blush… one thing we do know is that it isn’t James Blake, well we sort of know that. But all that is irrelevant if good music is absent, which in this case it most certainly is not.
Treehouse has been on loop at Ego Thieves since first being sent an email by Ashely at Push & Run, telling us this dude with a name we couldn’t pronounce made a remix of an Amy Winehouse track. We predict big things this year from label and artist alike. It also means all Push & Run emails get that special ’starred’ status in our inbox lol.

We would be lying if we knew who ’5kinandbone5′ was, or even how we came about this track in our inbox. We would also be lying if we said we knew ‘UTTU Records’ are. Its all pretty surreal, especially since Ego Thieves is non profit and simply a showcase of what we love and how much we love it. 2012 will bring new directions, new collaborations and a vast amount of music and art. People have been waiting patiently for this and we hope it doesn’t disappoint, which for his fans we are pretty sure it won’t (sadly lots of reports coming in that this one might not have made the mark.. you decide). Big ups to the whole Indie label power movement going on.
Relight has killed it this year! With too many bangers to even have time to mention… but here is a remix of one of those bangers ‘Get Out My Head’ by Ego Thieves favourite, Joker. Just having released his debut (some might say long overdue) album, this is the kind of Joker we love to hear. Hard sub wobbles, melodic synths and someone who knows a chord when he plays one.
Due for release January 22nd 2012, on MTA Records, it’s going to be another good year we can feel it.
