Ifan Dafydd – Treehouse x To Me

UK imprint Push & Run are here to kick off their 2012 release schedule with the official debut of Welsh enigma ‘Ifan Dafydd’. The rumours that surround him would make even Bruce Wayne blush… one thing we do know is that it isn’t James Blake, well we sort of know that. But all that is irrelevant if good music is absent, which in this case it most certainly is not.

Treehouse has been on loop at Ego Thieves since first being sent an email by Ashely at Push & Run, telling us this dude with a name we couldn’t pronounce made a remix of an Amy Winehouse track. We predict big things this year from label and artist alike. It also means all Push & Run emails get that special ’starred’ status in our inbox lol.

Happy New Year 2012

Happy New Year from everyone here at team Ego Thieves. Hope you all celebrated in style, all across the globe. We would like to thank everyone for all the support and love, not just from 2011, but since we started this journey of creativity. From humble beginnings as a small two man (Jenai & Jehrome) blog, showcasing music, games and anything take took our fancy. Now a globally recognised brand, with a reach of 50k unique visits a month and a recent milestone of 1million downloads, oh and an exclusive team bursting to the seams with creativity.

Its all pretty surreal, especially since Ego Thieves is non profit and simply a showcase of what we love and how much we love it. 2012 will bring new directions, new collaborations and a vast amount of music and art. Sibian & Faun – I’m Sorry

Some tracks get pretty abused at the Ego Thieves HQ and this is one of them. Sibian & Faun release their debut EP ‘I’m Sorry’ on the ever evolving label, Numbers. Huge two step bumpy vibes, classic R&B sampling and lots of digital goodness, this was always going to go down well for us.

Burial – Ashtray Wasp

A clip taken from Scratcha DVA Rinse FM show (you can stream full show here, well worth checking out) of the new Burial track from the Kindred EP we posted about earlier. The track is entitled ‘Ashtray Wasp’.

Other tracks entitled on the EP are “Kindred”,“Loner”, and “Wasp Ashtray”. Very happy to see 2012 start with such a bang.

Burial – Kindred EP

Some exciting news was announced from Hyperdub owner, Kode9, a few days ago: Burial is to release a new EP, Kindred (HDB059). Its the first EP to be released in nearly a year from an artist who inspires many with his style of music.

Culprate – Colours

Since we launched the new site, we have been playing catch up on a few things we loved, but didn’t have the chance to post beforehand. Here is another one for the backlog.

Culprate, who most of you him for his pretty hard hitting wobbles, released an experimental album a few months back called ‘Colours’. Though it may not be to everyones tastes, that doesn’t phase us. No time for a full review right now, but here is our favourite track ‘Black’. Its such a good album and we love to support producers who aren’t afraid to step outside of their comfort zone. James Blake – Love What Happend Here

We have been huge James Blake fans all the way back since 2008 and on mixes such as Dubfluencial 8, Dubfluence 3 and more.

Now embarking on his more ‘commercial’ career, coming under allot of scrutiny from his original fan base, he decided to do what he does best and finally put a digital release date on a huge favourite track of ours ‘Love What Happened Here’. Going back to his melodic rhodes roots, this has everything you expect and demand from a James Blake EP. But it now <3

Zinc – Sprung EP

If you know about Ego Thieves, you should know we definitely aren’t all about ‘Dubstep’ and have a vast mix collection to prove otherwise. And DJ Zinc is a huge favorite of ours! His ‘Crack House’ EPs have been epic, and this cracked out continuation doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. Check out this sampler from the ‘Sprung’ EP out this month on the Rinse label.

Subzee D – Jack In A Box EP

Subzee D drops his debut EP on none other than Dub Police records. Out on the 12th of December featuring tracks ‘Jack In A Box’, ‘Zulu Stomp’ and our favourite out of the EP ‘One More’. Buy it here. Next year is going to be a big year for Subzee, and well deserved. Skrillex up for 5 Grammy Awards

Some interesting news we thought we would share. Skrillex has be nominated not just for one Grammy award, but five! Good news for EDM? Bad news for EDM? Or just happy he put out the new Koan Sound EP lol? Either way a great achievement for any artist.
