Tuning The Summer 01 – Major Lazer

If you don’t know about Major Lazer, then allow your face to be duppy slapped with a wet fish called Wonda. They are comprised of Switch and Diplo. Its a side / collaboration project pushing the envelope of music, especially Reggae and Bashment. This is one for our  ‘Tuning The Summer’ selection. Random tracks we feel represent the Summer of ’09. Here is the first, enjoy 🙂

Michael Jackson – A Tribute [Part Two]

Here is the second and final part of our tribute to the king of pop, Michael Jackson. This second edition takes us back to his roots and his Jackson 5 legacy. Tracks like Ben, I’ll Be There, Music & Me. As well as more soulful tracks including one of my all time favs Butterflies. Thanks to all those who emailed in and showing love for first part and also to the many who loved the artwork (and the random dude who emailed me a pic of him putting my artwork on his wall as a poster! Craziness!). So here is our final salute to the most influential in music of our generation. Rest in peace.

Intelligent Hoodlum Vol 3 – I Love The 90s

As the summer glimmers in the near distance i can never help myself but reminisce of my childhood, which for me was the 1990’s. When R&B was badder than bad and ever fresh and evolving ( and yes, right now its very poor!). This is part one of a special series i will be doing over the summer, celebrating the vast amount of amazing music i grew up with. Starting with R&B, here is 20 tracks including some early 90s tracks some slow jams and some New Jack Swing. Montel Jordan, SWV, Ginuwine, 112, Aaliyah and lots more its defiantly an education in good music.

Michael Jackson – A Tribute [Part One]

Here is part one to our tribute to the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson. Ten of our fav tracks chosen by the team and blended as best i can (MJ Tracks just where not made to be DJ’d lol) in a 30 min mix. This part is our ‘Club’ tribute, bringing you all the bangers that we would want to hear on a night out and get our Moonwalk on. Still cant believe he is gone, very sad but this is how we choose to remember him. Not for his politics, just simply for his music. Once a legend always a legend.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson > Ego Thieves Salutes The King Of Pop

Unbelievable is the only word to even start to sum up this overwhelming piece of news. This will be a brief post, i will be doing a tribute mix tomoz with the team to celebrate exactly why this man is the legend he is. He carved modern music as we know it along side Quincy Jones and is the ultimate pop star of all time. For me and many other 80s babies we grew up on this man, he is a part of our heritage and our childhood. This is a very sad day and will affect the world in an immense way.
