Lapalux – Lovebox Jukebox #4

There’s only a few hours left in 2011, what better way to spend them than listen to Lapalux’s addition to the Lovebox Jukebox collection. This mix is one of the most chilled this year with tracks from Lapalux himself, Four Tet, Mount Kimbie, Aphex Twin and many more.

No doubt we’ll be listening to this mix long into 2012, right now it’s the perfect mix to see 2011 off!

Check Lapalux’s website here and keep an eye out for more posts featured on this amazing artist.

The Weeknd - Echos Of Silence Cover

The Weeknd – Echoes Of Silence

Brand new and hot off the press, ‘Echoes Of Silence‘ the third instalment from Indie R&B artist, ‘The Weeknd‘ is out now to download.

People have been waiting patiently for this and we hope it doesn’t disappoint, which for his fans we are pretty sure it won’t (sadly lots of reports coming in that this one might not have made the mark.. you decide). Big ups to the whole Indie label power movement going on.

Redlight – Get Out My Head (Joker Remix)

Relight has killed it this year! With too many bangers to even have time to mention… but here is a remix of one of those bangers ‘Get Out My Head’ by Ego Thieves favourite, Joker. Just having released his debut (some might say long overdue) album, this is the kind of Joker we love to hear. Hard sub wobbles, melodic synths and someone who knows a chord when he plays one.

Due for release January 22nd 2012, on MTA Records, it’s going to be another good year we can feel it.

New Years Eve 2011 – Top 5 Events

Ego Thieves top five destinations for New Years eve 2011 (UK Based only).

TOKiMONSTA – Cigarette Lust

We know a lot of you have never heard of TOKiMONSTA and it’s a damn shame (at least we’re letting you know though right?!). Being classically trained in Piano, she has come to understand how to use live instruments, percussion and digital manipulation, creating a very unique sound difficult to find any where else!

‘Cigarette Lust’ is on an LP called ‘Proximity One: Narrative of a City’ and is definitely one of our favourites from TOKiMONSTA.

Buy all of her albums from here. She also produced Mileena’s Theme in Mortal Kombat 9, which is a good sign. We hope to see more artists like TOKi getting featured in game OST’s.

Noisia & Mayhem ft. KRS One – Exodus (Official Video)

I know quite a few long time Ego Thieves fans have seen this one before, but it has to get posted for EgoThieves 4.0! This video literally gives us goose bumps every time we see it; the way the music is in time with the CG makes it one of the best music videos in the last 5 years! Also, KRS One…Do we need to say any more?

Noisia are doing big things, make sure you like them on Facebook (you can see the making of for the Exodus video!) and buy their albums here!

Machinedrum-Room(S)

Machinedrum – GBYE

Machinedrum have a very unique sound, in our opinion this is one of the best tracks this year: so unique and diverse, we can’t wait to hear more.

This track ‘GBYE’ is from their album, Room(S). The whole album is full of different sounds, it really is a joy to listen to. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any future releases from Machinedrum, make sure you are too…Easily done by coming back to Egothieves.com!

Buy their album from here!

Sibian-&-Faun---I'm-Sorry-cover

Sibian & Faun – I’m Sorry

Some tracks get pretty abused at the Ego Thieves HQ and this is one of them. Sibian & Faun release their debut EP ‘I’m Sorry’ on the ever evolving label, Numbers. Huge two step bumpy vibes, classic R&B sampling and lots of digital goodness, this was always going to go down well for us.

Out now to buy direct from the Numbers store. Also visit Sibian & Faun website here.

Super Shogun Stormtrooper

We only found out about Super7 today via Kid Robot’s Blog. Apparently Kidrobot LA have one of these 24-inch beasts in stock! It comes equipped with free rotating wheels on the bottom of it’s feet, and a  Rocket Punch firing fist. This guy could stand by your front door and scare people off with his authoritative stance and laser cannon…We love it!

Now we know about Super7, expect to see a lot more posted on here! They have some really interesting vinyl toys; very different to Kid Robot (which is always welcome!)

Check their store here!

Burial – Ashtray Wasp

A clip taken from Scratcha DVA Rinse FM show (you can stream full show here, well worth checking out) of the new Burial track from the Kindred EP we posted about earlier. The track is entitled ‘Ashtray Wasp’.

Other tracks entitled on the EP are “Kindred”,“Loner”, and “Wasp Ashtray”. Very happy to see 2012 start with such a bang.

Culprate – Tentacle

We were sent this a while ago from our old mucker Inspector Dubplate and imminently fell in love with it. We are huge Culprate fans (check his album colours here) and love the direction he is going in. This also shows the pace the Inspected label is picking up, showcasing more than just filth, wobbles and tracks that apparently make people want to act so filthy they usually insert their own hands into a family members oraphis.

Next year is going to be big for Inspected and this little beauty is taken from Culprates EP, out on Xmas day no less. Though we do love the track, we aren’t sure its going to be enough to pull us away from the various meats and stuffings on this year dinner table.
