MIXED BY JENAI & CUDLO
It was the summer of 2012 and as much as I had finally completed the Dubfluencial series, my love for all things bass related will never end. Trap was just as popular as Dubstep by now, and as much as I had always been a fan, I never sat down to create a mix. I just enjoyed the new tracks coming out of the scene like everyone else.
But as it was the summer and my inbox was heaving with promos and bangers, I got talking to my boy Cudlo and we decided to team up and produce a new mix series, ‘We Are Ego Thieves’. It would be a mix to celebrate anything bass related, Trap, Bassline, House, Electronica, it was an anything goes mashup of all the tracks we both loved at the time.
With tracks from newly formed super duo TNGHT, club hits from Flosstradamus and the soon to be viral sensation ‘Harlem Shake’ by Baauer, this mix really did encapsulate the energy we felt that summer and it set a whole new direction for myself and Cudlo.
Oh, the artwork was simply due to the fact we love cats, the internet loves cats and we wanted to see cats who run the club and started trappin lol. Some things do exactly what they say on the tin. Love to my brother Cudlo <3
