XXXY’s ‘Got Me So’ EP set for Feb. 4 release
We’ve had our ears pricked open for news of this threesome of shimmering, sampled voice house by Rupert Taylor aka XXXY. ‘Got Me So’ first came to our notice on his Boiler Room appearance and friends had also mentioned its weighty bassline and vocal sampling as part of their Outlook Festival escapades. Joining that are ‘Get Ready’ with its sweet-tooth nods to speed garage, hinged around swung drums, wordless voices and hefty four-to-the-floor kicks. The bundle is rounded off by ‘Studio 9 (Just Like That)’, it’s most directly house-leaning track. It’s house supercharged, though, lent momentum by snares and whiplash synths that rip through the mix.
The EP marks a debut for XXXY on Rinse‘s trendsetting catalogue of releases after previous releases on Well Rounded, Ten Thousand Yen and Infrasonics and should be with us in early February.
