The alt-R&B, post-R&B, whateveryouwannacallit (newfangled genre, bore) virus continues its infection of many a music making soul. Toddla T Sound is a novel collective that consists of the Sheffield beatmaker himself alongside old school garage babe Shola Ama, Serocee and DRS. ‘Worst Enemy’ is succulently spacious; literally combining cirrus-like pads with Ama’s tuneful vocal chords and that’s it. In just that though it has a beautiful immersive texture, like floating way above sea level in a massive R&B bubble.
