Urban Nerds was a night held in the then up and coming East London, it literally changed mine and so many others vision of what a ‘night out’ should be. The energy was like nothing you have ever seen before and It was the first night that really changed the game when it came to lineups, mixing culture with art and music.
Each event was carefully curated, mixing genres no one else dared. The roster on a single stage would include the likes of Rusko playing a sub-low Dubstep set, JME & Tempa T destroying the dance with a live Grime set or Congo Natty delivering an organic Jungle vibe to end the night.
When you needed to replenish some energy all you had to do was pop outside to view the best graffiti artists in the country painting live murals and grab some freshly cooked Jerk Chicken from the food stalls right inside the rave.
The team were incredible, the timing was impeccable and the execution was flawless. I feel privileged to have been a part of it all, capturing some of the magic that was created and it introduced me to a whole new range of skill sets and amazing people. This was a mix I created to try and capture some of the energy I felt I experienced throughout those magical years.
