Love him or hate him, every time 50 Cent pushes his career further with a new album he likes to end someone else’s by  publicly humiliating them.  Now normally this would be cruel, but for ego driven rappers who do nothing all day but tell you how great they are…ITS FUCKING AMAZING ENTERTAINMENT!

Previous victims Ja Rule, Benzino, Jadakiss and D Block, The Game, Camron, Fat Joe, Rick Ross and more have all struggled to get the same sales (if any) since going up against Fifty and it has become common knowledge that you just DON’T beef the guy, if he says something about you, you laugh it off and don’t reply like rappers such as T.I have…

Some complain about 50 Cents promotion antics when an album drops, but lets be honest, seeing 50 Cent in hip hop beef is like seeing a kid at Christmas, he loves it! which was probably why one of his most popular early tracks (an the first from 50 I ever heard) titled ‘How 2 Rob’ was based on just that. So who’s next in line for some punishment?…it could possibly be none other than Jay Z judging 50’s latest interviews.

50 has been more than open about his views towards Jay Z, most recently by his ‘Gervais Humping’ clips in the Flight 187 Video, but Jay Z – who is also guilty of some album promo stunts himself (The Black Album Retirement?) – has tried to T.I the situation and ignore the attacks. However, the Hip Hop community knows that Jay Z can’t claim to be the king of Hip Hop without taking out the competition and certain journalists, radio presenters etc call him on this now at every chance.

Its only fair, It could be like a boxer such as Amir Khan being the champ without fighting anyone decent, an when he finally does its K.O in a matter of seconds (as he did). If Ali and Tyson were both boxing at the same time, they would HAVE to fight to claim the title of that generation.  Jay Z hasn’t done this and flawed someone credible in years, and he can’t claim that it’s not his thing as it’s one of the ways he entered the game by taking on LL Cool J, was it not?

People still debate about who won out of Jay and Nas. Fair do, Nas may not have been the best biz man and years later ended up signed to Def Jam (which at the time Jay Z was “running”), so to some that kinda answered the winner status debate.  But it wasn’t a clear knock out and Nas is still the favorite in quite a few hip hop fans eyes, let alone still has a decent music career as do Mobb Deep, so he hardly did to Nas & Prodigy what 50 has done to his victims.

Now Jay Z may have sold more records than 50 (because he has put out a lot more – duh), but with less than half the albums, 50 Cent has definitly achieved massive success in such a small amount of time and is rapidly catching up. This said, with an equal amount of retail albums in the future, if 50’s support stays stable, he could leave Jay Z’s figures far behind with ease, an going by recent album vs album sales I don’t see how they are not on the same level?

Not to mention when it comes to being the best businessman, 50 was Forbes highest Hip Hop earner last year (Forbes site) and the second highest African American under Oprah, making $100m off one vitamin water biz deal, let alone a the amounts for his films, games etc.  While Jay Z’s biggest of $150m with concert promoter Live Nation stretches over a ten year period (meaning he needs to work that off for ten years? – not sure), and who knows what position 50 will be in again after his release ‘Before I Self Distruct’.

If Jay Z just wanted to be a humble yet highly successful Hip Hop artist then fine, but to base his whole public image on being the best blah blah blah, then someone doing well in his league wants to challenge him, should he not respect Hip Hops traditional rules and battle? At least go head to head with 50 Cent to show people ‘This is why I’m the King of Hip Hop’ ? Rather that pulling that old cop out on how ‘he’s not on my level, I’m beyond him’ blah blah like LL Cool J could have to him back in the day, I just think to claim to that you’re the King or whatever with that kinda of competition to me is just a little unjustified and ignorant, especially when Jay’s willing to the diss someone like T-Pain? its quite clear that he’s trying his best to avoid 50 Cent.

(Though to be crowned king I personally think he should go even further and battle Eminem, the guy who many would say left Jay Z’s rep questionable after featuring on Jay’s own album track ‘Renegade’ and pretty much making it his own, but that aint ever going to happen…anyway)

I’m not against Jay Z, I personally think The Black Album was amazing, tracks like ‘99 Problems’ and ‘Dirt Of My Shoulder’ will go down in history, as will some of his old school classics. Jay Z is without a doubt ONE of the best to ever make hip hop. However, to me, I’m old school and feel he still has to prove he can K.O his rivals and earn the title of KING OF HIP HOP by making sure his peers respect him. Though that said, I can understand why he don’t want to battle with cringe worthy moments in his past such as 40 seconds into this video with Jaz-0 which is the kinda stuff 50 Cent loves for ammo and would turn into a massive joke.

I mean, wow, as far as first features go, 50 Cent was in a Hockey match penalty box for the Onyx ‘React‘ video rapping some hard bars and Jay Z played some kinda Mary Poppins in ‘Hawaiian Sophie’ on some Will Smith vibe…you can kinda guess how the rest of the battle could go. And I’m sure Jaz-O would be more than happy to feed 50 Cent with some information since they are no longer the best of friends Click For Miss Info Link. Plus the simple fact that 50 Cent was brought into the mainsteam by Eminem, one of the most successfull artists of our generation and is a lot more credible than the person that helped Jay Z get some of that mainsteam light Click Here For A Laugh

Blah Blah Blah, you get the idea, it could be very funny considering 50’s previous battle antics, so yeah, this is Hip Hop, and everyone wants to be king, though some are not scared to fight for it. This could either end up being  a very big spotlight held by 50 on a world Jay has tried to avoid for so long, or Jay Z could be the first person to knock down 50 Cent, either way entertaining for the fans (as long as it don’t turn physical).

One thing I do know is that ignoring 50 Cent won’t make him go away…So, I guess only time will tell, but if Jay Z is the better lyricist then why avoid a good old Hip Hop battle? have we just evolved past that whole history of battling and now base our “King” status on other things such as longevity, number of albums, associate history, what girl they date etc?  Why not forget all that an take it back to the old school way of earning that title by showing you’re skills and showmanship are not to be messed with, if only for our entertainment
