Many established and long term followers may slew and put down this type of mix and tracks. But the fact is this mix draws in allot of people with tracks they already know but with a twist. Most people then go on to download the Dubfluencial mixes and delve deeper to then go on to download Dubfluence mixes and get into the likes of Burial, Breakage, Synkro etc.

These mixes are a perfect entry point for people who have no idea what Dubstep or what this Bass sound is all about. Its a stepping stone to then get deep into the other mixes, tracks and educate themselves without being overwhelmed by sounds that are too new to them. It also gives established producers to try something new with their production and make some of that mainstream monies. So don’t hate. Its boring. But if you chose to, theres many more who don’t, so your alone and who really wants to be alone?

Legendary UK Garage producer Duncan Powell has hit us up with a brand new 2010 mix. This mix is simply amazing, it completely consists of his own production. 2-Step’s back to the organic sound fused with the new influences the current Dubstep sound has attributed.

The outcome is exactly this… head banging beats derived from soulful chords and samples along side a large dose of sensual bass. Its simply beautiful music at its best.

Not only is this an Ego Thieves Exclusive, there are also tracks on here that nobody has heard yet. If your a fan of Dubfluence mixes, or a fan of the likes of Burial, Silkie etc this is for you. If you have no idea what I am talking about, this is simply music to encourage thought and to relax your mind too all at the same time.

Now Duncan has said he is taking a break from music. This would be a great shame and this mix proves it. So don’t worry I will be doing my best to bug him and make sure he realises there is a brand new market out there now and it has a worldwide audience. After all only 15% of our vast traffic is from my home, the UK.

You may notice on the cover as well the question, what do you call it? People are trying to seperate the sounds and the genres. It makes no difference if it’s Garage, 2 Step or Dubstep. There are two kinds of genres on Ego Thieves. Good music and bad music. The second one does not exist in my world.

First here is a very special mix and a birthday dedication to one of the best websites to grace the planet, Ninja Video. If you do not know Ninja Video, don’t worry your not alone, there are still many that don’t. I like that. But for those who do know, and like me, visit it several times a day for stupidly long periods of time watching anything from Ducktales and Thundercats to the latest US Uber shows like Big Bang Theory you know what I’m talking about.

Don’t simply write this site off for another stream-a-thon site trying to gain adsense money. There is a real community, there is real love and passion. I see it as, they do what we do but with TV, Film and Documentary. Any website that puts up a David Attenborough collection, a John Hughes dedication or the best that Asia cinema has to offer you haven’t seen yet is much more than just a group of people trying to throw pop ups at you and make that chump change.

The forum is vast, political, insightful and delightful (yeah I rhyme, what of it?). I have to admit I am not a member, not because I don’t want to be but life is my bitch and time is my enemy. So make sure you get over to Ninja Video and find out exactly why your Internet has been missing.

Its end of January already. WTF. Prob the most hectic month and start to a year I will ever have in my life. So now its time to get back to what I do best, bring you all amazing music with my own twists and style of course.

2010 means time for new, so I bring you Jenailution – Flying Lotus. No, Jenailution is not a real word (Just like Dubfluencial is NOT a real word lol), but a pun on my own name and the word Evolution of course.

This series will be coming thick and fast in 30 min mixes featuring some of my all time fav artists and producers. There’s no genre, no limits and they will be an insight into my Musical journey and how my relationship with music has evolved into what it is today. After all, that process of evolution in Music is what lead me to even create Ego Thieves.

Expect to see mixes including legends such as Todd Edwards, Musiq Soulchild, Dwele, Afta and just so much more. I was going to just create these for myself and my iPhone, but how could I not share them with all of you?

To those that are new, I don’t do huge in depth reviews. People just do not read them online so I try to keep them bite-size and to the point.

Corinne Bailey Rae, in my opinion is one of the purest and most talented artists this country has had to offer since I can remember.  Utterly original, I can drag up a few artists state side and even here in the UK to try and compare her too. But its impossible.

Her undoubtedly hard to forget and instantly recognisable voice, with a strong tint of her oh so British Accent makes her unique in so many ways.

I’ve had the privilege of being sent her brand new album ‘The Sea’ to listen and review. I was actually excited to put the CD in my mac and be taken away. She did not let me down with this follow up album. Before I give my opinions and let you know my brief insight into what I think of the album, I want to remind those who don’t know how much of an achievement this album really is for Corinne.

She lost her husband in 2008 after he was found dead in a Leeds flat following a drug overdose. I have had more than my fair share of experience with death and can totally relate to Corrine when she said felt ‘“extremely, extremely destructive” after her husbands passing. Since Corrine herself has never been involved with drugs this must of been terrible for her.

She went on to express; “I didn’t hear anything. Nothing came in. It’s hard to explain. All I wanted to do was destroy things. I felt so much had sort of been, destroyed. I guess I can’t lie about stuff now, so there it is. You can’t play it down. I felt extremely, extremely destructive, and I’ve never felt that before.”

“I couldn’t make any plans, I couldn’t even imagine the next day. It’s an awful time. You can’t do anything. It’s possibly an endless time. That’s all you can see: time.” She goes on to say “Even at this particular point right now, I don’t feel like Jason’s death actually happened,” added Corinne.

At other times I can feel it much more. I feel totally destroyed. I feel totally cut off from my favorite person in the world. But I just feel like this is the right time (to release her new album). I definitely don’t want to be seen as like, ‘Oh, wow, she’s soldiering on!’ Because I don’t feel like I am. At this particular point, I’m finding it to be the right thing to do.”

I can’t express how noble I think that is and can definitely relate to her anguish and pain…

The track ‘The Sea’ is very intimate and you can hear all those feelings from pen to paper. Fans of hers will not be disappointed at all with this album! It deliverer’s her beautiful sound of Soul, Jazz and Folk music combined. There is even a hint of rock in a few tracks bringing you some more uplifting changes to the sound of the album.

Her voice is as angelic as its ever been. That whisper and strain that makes her voice unforgettable is still prominent. If I could chose any voice to sing me asleep at night, Corrine’s is right at the top of that list.

You can tell though its a very personal album, she has still not gone all in. I’m assuming this is due to the amount of heartache she is, and will always go through. To lose someone you love is one of life’s greatest challenges and one no person should ever have to go through.

If this is the result, in just a few years after her immense pain, then I am confident we as the British public will always have her as a leading artist for many years to come. The album delivers everything you want. Those immense guitar riffs and sensual piano chords, that no matter the weather sends you straight to a summers eve within an instant.

If you enjoy this track or any previous Corrine Baily Rae music this is an absolute purchase. Don’t waste your time on iTunes downloading this per track in MP3 format. Never underestimate the quality of CD music. This is one CD you shouldn’t download. Legal or illegal. Her last album did 4 million copies Worldwide and I predict the same if not more for this one. Don’t forget to follow her on Twitter also.

To sum it up, this is beautiful music in all its glory and I have only had it a day and its already become a part of my timeless collection just like her last.

For starters i bring you an Urban Nerds Retrospective. Urban Nerds is a pride and joy and to have watched it grown into what it has today im happy to to say i was there and part of the family. I have lots of content which allot will remain private but i have some here to share with all of you. First up is prob the best Grime act of all time, Newham Generals. They performed in June 2008 at prob the best Urban Nerds venue 93 Feet East. It was the first time Urban Nerds hosted the DMC Heats for London. This cause some problems with the set up as its allot more complicated than people think. But Tubby isnt one of the best DJs for no reason and the show went on. The first to introduce the Dubstep sound and to this day D Double E and Footsie are the only two MCs i will ever listen to spit over Dubstep and agree they make it sound just that much better.
