FaltyDL – You Stand Uncertain

We seriously can’t get enough of FaltyDL (as you can clearly see but all of the posts). Trying to fit this guy into a genre is near impossible, is it Garage? Dubstep? Experimental? We have no idea, but we do know we’ll be listening to him long into 2012!

The feature track from his album You Stand Uncertain, a review we read over at Factmag described the album perfectly.

Drew Lustman’s second album as FaltyDL draws you in and swallows you whole, submerging you into a world full of emotions, hidden meanings, flashbacks to times gone by and possible futures

We can’t wait to hear more!

Nosaj Thing – Drift Special Japan Set Mix

Jason Chung (Nosaj being Jason backwards) was inspired at an early age by the hip-hop radio stations that the bus driver would play on his way to elementary school, and particularly by the Beat Junkies’ turntablism on Power 106. When growing up he began to get into drum’n’bass and the rave scene; this made him delve into working out how to produce his own music with his Dad’s computer.

Self-releasing his first EP “Views/Octopus” in 2006 and releasing his debut LP,” Drift”, on Alpha Pup Records on June 9, 2009, he’s been making waves in the music scene ever since!

This mix consists of tunes from Drift, it really does show what Nosaj Thing’s music has to offer!

Check out his website here.

Kito

Kito – Cold

“Characterised by a pop-infused, fresh and precisely clean production style, Kito’s music has received support globally from a number of leading DJs and producers. Having had her first completed tracks picked up by none other than Dubstep pioneer and figurehead, Skream, and released on his label Disfugured Dubz, Kito hit the ground running.

Since her first release in 2009, Australian born Maaike Lebbing has gone from strength to strength.”

We took this from her Last FM profile, usually something we don’t do but we couldn’t say this better ourselves.

Kito is definitely an artist we feel deserves regular features, so keep an eye out.

Also buy all of her music from here.

TOKiMONSTA – Doing It My Way

Our second post on TOKiMONSTA and definitley one of our favourite tunes. She manages to create such a unique sound without trying too hard and it sounds amazing; this is the perfect tune to chill to when your got lots of work to do! Also another artist from Brainfeeder, do they have any bad artists on their label? We don’t think so!

TOKiMONSTA will certainly keep being featured on Ego Thieves with more tunes like this one and I’m sure we’ll see a lot more from her this year.

Buy her album “Creature Dreams” from here and the “Cosmic Intoxication EP” from here.

Artist Profile – Tim Tsui

This week in our second artist profile (click here for our first),  we’ll be looking at Tim Tsui from Hong Kong.

One of the finest pioneers in Urban Vinyl Art, he is one of the greatest figure artists and illustrator from Hong Kong. Tsui’s groundbreaking style has earned him worldwide praise, including the unique application of gemstones in his designs (which you can see by the third image).

We love his style and we’re anxious to add his amazing work to our collection.

Like him on Facebook for updates on his work!

Mono/poly – Vibrations (Alternate)

This tune hasn’t been posted anywhere, Soundcloud, Youtube…It’s no where to be found!

We finally stumbled on a video of Gaslamp Killer and Nosedrip, with this tune over it and thought we’d post it!

This is another banger from Mono/poly’s album, Manifestations. There isn’t a bad tune on it, he’s amazingly talented; we’re sure Brainfeeder feel lucky to have him on their label!

Buy Manifestations from here and make sure you check Mono/Poly’s website out!

Machinedrum – now u kno tha deal 4 real

We told you you’d be seeing another feature on Machinedrum. We can’t get enough of his LP, Room(S), this is definitely one of the darker tunes on it.

Apparently he even made this video, a bit weird we know, but it gives you an impression of the kind of artist Machinedrum is; completley outside the box…we love it!

Room(S) was also released on the label Planet Mu and it’s quickly apparent after listening to it!

Stay tuned for more features on both Planet Mu and Machinedrum.

FaltyDL – Gospel of Oak (ft Anneka)

We really want to spread FaltyDL’s name this year, we were lucky enough to find out about him last year and we can’t get enough of his music. Currently signed to Planet Mu, the same label as artists like Burial, Breakage, Benga and Hatcha. This is by far one of our favourite labels, it has such a diverse catalog of artists with various unique styles (they are also based in London!).

Gospel of Oak is only a taste of whats on the LP, You Stand Uncertain, we strongly recommend you buy this one, we are %100 certain you will not be disappointed.

In the next few days we will posting a lot more tunes from Planet Mu’s artists!

Check FaltyDL’s releases here and Planet Mu’s artists here.

Artist Profile – Huck Gee

We felt we should start featuring the people behind a lot the Vinyl toy art we post on Ego Thieves, starting off with Huck Gee from the UK!

Huck Gee moved to San Fransisco in the early 90s to pursue his passion for being an artist. Huck honed his skills as an illustrator, delving into the alluring world of Japanese and Hong Kong pop art; he calls his style “Bastardized Asian Pop Culture”. He now has numerous releases with Kid Robot, which are certainly some of the rarist to come by. His ‘Hello My Name Is 8-inch Dunny’ was accepted into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in NYC.

Huck is certainly an inspiration to any who have a passion for Vinyl Toy art, you will definitely be seeing more from him featured here.

See more from his personal gallery here, in our opinion he has designed some of the best Vinyl Toys to date, also a little video showcasing some of his Vinly Toys!. Keep an eye out next Thursday for our next Artist profile!

Teknian

Teknian – Urban Grounds

*update* Due to some douche behaviour, the person who uploaded that Soundcloud clip didn’t have the permission, and one thing we do not tolerate at Ego Thieves is dam Youtube / Soundcloud DJs. Full Teknian feature coming soon.

It actually annoyed us that this amazing tune only has 18 plays on Sound Cloud! Although we heard this late 2011, this is easily one of our favourite tunes from last year.

Teknian is only 17 years old, from Sweden and is currently signed to Screwloose Records. This is literally all we can find out about this amazing new artist, all new information we find in the future will be posted here!

Make sure you like him on Facebook and keep an eye out for more features on Teknian. Also this track features another artists called Kasket, make sure you check his Facebook out too!

The Gaslamp Killer – Monsterfromtheunderground

Brainfeeder is one of our favourite labels, they have an amazing catalog of artists, The Gaslamp Killer being one of them. If you’ve ever seen one of his live shows, he really knows how to make a crowd hype. A lot of his tracks are completely improvised, Monsterfromtheunderground isn’t but still amazing!

Born William Benjamin Bensussen, he originally comes from San Diego, CA, whose downtown Gaslamp District’s bar scene inspired him to name himself the Gaslamp Killer in disgust for much of the patronage.

Buy all of his albums from here and check posts about him on Brainfeeder

Lapalux_Lovebox_Jukebox

Lapalux – Lovebox Jukebox #4

There’s only a few hours left in 2011, what better way to spend them than listen to Lapalux’s addition to the Lovebox Jukebox collection. This mix is one of the most chilled this year with tracks from Lapalux himself, Four Tet, Mount Kimbie, Aphex Twin and many more.

No doubt we’ll be listening to this mix long into 2012, right now it’s the perfect mix to see 2011 off!

Check Lapalux’s website here and keep an eye out for more posts featured on this amazing artist.
