A film by Stephen Alex Vasquez, this has everyone from A-Trak, LMFAO, Chromeo, DJ Qbert, Steve Akoi, LA riots, Major Lazer and so many more. It delves into the opinions of digital music, the effects of the blogosphere, bedroom producers and what’s to become of music in general. We have entered a Digital age whether you love or hate it. This film tries to expose those issues as well as promote the scene entirely. Not sure whats going on with a release of this whether it will drop on DVD etc but I will be contacting the director to find out.

He has also built a profile as one of Dubsteps superior newcomers of remixers. From Mochipet, DZ, Two Fresh and even Simon Lebon of Duran Duran. As well as DJ’ing along side the worlds finest Dubstep artists and playing at some of the biggest events he has also been deep in the lab creating all sorts of wonder. This has produced his debut album ’Futurism‘.

For me this is an amazing album. The diversity and originality is immense. He has built his own sound collection, created his own abstract patterns and pushed the boundaries of what Dubstep is or should be. Instead of trying to follow suit like most trends endure, he has decided to do what expresses him best. The deep, sensual, space inspired sound is prominant here. You could easily throw your headphones on, grab a fake steering wheel and pretend to float through the night stars (obviously we recommend a few beers before hand to bring out the child’s imagination in you ).

One thing I think needs to be pointed out in this 13 track album is the quality of the mix downs. So many up and coming, even established artists neglect to invest in the sector of mastering seriously.

Ok, on your headphones or small stereo system you may not notice much. But when your playing on a Funktion one system at 50k watts you really notice which producers have taken the time to make sure each layer of sound is perfectly combined to give maximum impact. This album delivers that. There will be bass that your iPhone headphones just wont be able to pick up. So make sure you get yourself a nice lil sub to use for this one (as you should do with all good quality music).

For those looking for something different in todays overcrowded Dubstep market this is for you. Or those who want that hard sublow bass to scare your cat with its low sonic frequencies you cannot afford to be without it.

POP! Goes Dubfluencial 3 is here already…! What started out as me trying to snub the forums and bloggers by showcasing all the commercial sounding, Dubstep/Bass as allot of them hated them, has now turned into a mini series with a huge fan base all of its own.

Many established and long term followers may slew and put down this type of mix and tracks. But the fact is this mix draws in allot of people with tracks they already know but with a twist. Most people then go on to download the Dubfluencial mixes and delve deeper to then go on to download Dubfluence mixes and get into the likes of Burial, Breakage, Synkro etc.

These mixes are a perfect entry point for people who have no idea what Dubstep or what this Bass sound is all about. Its a stepping stone to then get deep into the other mixes, tracks and educate themselves without being overwhelmed by sounds that are too new to them. It also gives established producers to try something new with their production and make some of that mainstream monies. So don’t hate. Its boring. But if you chose to, theres many more who don’t, so your alone and who really wants to be alone?

Legendary UK Garage producer Duncan Powell has hit us up with a brand new 2010 mix. This mix is simply amazing, it completely consists of his own production. 2-Step’s back to the organic sound fused with the new influences the current Dubstep sound has attributed.

The outcome is exactly this… head banging beats derived from soulful chords and samples along side a large dose of sensual bass. Its simply beautiful music at its best.

Not only is this an Ego Thieves Exclusive, there are also tracks on here that nobody has heard yet. If your a fan of Dubfluence mixes, or a fan of the likes of Burial, Silkie etc this is for you. If you have no idea what I am talking about, this is simply music to encourage thought and to relax your mind too all at the same time.

Now Duncan has said he is taking a break from music. This would be a great shame and this mix proves it. So don’t worry I will be doing my best to bug him and make sure he realises there is a brand new market out there now and it has a worldwide audience. After all only 15% of our vast traffic is from my home, the UK.

You may notice on the cover as well the question, what do you call it? People are trying to seperate the sounds and the genres. It makes no difference if it’s Garage, 2 Step or Dubstep. There are two kinds of genres on Ego Thieves. Good music and bad music. The second one does not exist in my world.
