This could go either way. Disney are obtaining a huge batch of new characters from the Marvel Library (over 5000 infact), with which they could produce many films, animations and cartoons. But can Disney really bring the grittiness that Marvel bring with characters like Dead Pool, Gambit, Iron Man, Hulk etc.

Now I think everyone loves Marvel; unless your one of those idiots who feel they have to choose between DC and Marvel; I will be pissed if Disney throw a majority of Marvel’s best characters away and only work with the most popular ones; which they will then proceed to make a cartoon which shows on Cartoon Network at 3 in the morning…

Anyway, both boards and Disney and Marvel have approved the deal. “We believe that adding Marvel to Disney’s unique portfolio of brands provides significant opportunities for long-term growth and value creation,” Disney president and chief executive Robert Iger said. So we’ll see what happens, but putting your expectations to high might lead to a bit of a disappointment!
